Doctors are not law enforcement, and cannot imprison you.

They may report criminal activity, but that’s usually limited to forging or stealing prescriptions.

Most likely, if you fail, you will be dismissed from his/her care.

I guess that depends on whats is going to show positive. The majority of docs dont care about thc. But they may get upset if something along the lines of meth or cocaine were to be positive.
But no, they are not going to put you in jail. They can do something like refer you to a rehab clinic and refuse to further treat you if you dont go through the program.

They will refuse to prescribe anymore pain meds for you. Due to HIPPA (Healthcare Information Patient Privacy Act), the provider cannot release your medical records to anyone without your consent.

I don’t know. I’m guessing based on my TV viewing experience (Brothers and Sisters). The guy was addicted to some drug in the past and they refused (didn’t recommend) to give him pain medication for his current knee injury because he may become addicted to his current drug prescription. He had to suffer through the pain, since he decided to not take the knee painkillers because he may develop a current dependency on them (based on his past drug experimentation). I’m not exactly sure what your asking , so ignore my entry if i’m down the wrong lane…
