It depends on the medicine that is injected, the dosage of each injection, other medicines you may be taking, your body composition, the site of the injection/inflammation and other factors. Not a simple answer.

When you are getting Epidural Steroid Injections - they can do a series of 3 at a time. and then they like to wait 3 months between before they do any others. YOU didnt say where your pain was?
how old you are or where the pain is. My experience is from LOW back pain.
The generally dont like to do to many, but if they help, I have found they wont hesistate to do them. I even worked it out with My anesthiologist- and I just basically had to call him and it wasnt a problem. (I think this is a rarity)
You did get some relief that is great, I am guessing that maybe the only thing that helped was the lidocaine that they inject before the actually give u the Steroid. (A SUPER ANTI INFLAMMATORY!) DID they follow up with an injection of Toradol? (you may want to ask -if you can get one- providing you are not allergic!)
You can always go for a shot of Torodal- inbetween series of blocks
Did they do it under xray - or blind?(in -just sit on the end of the bed and they inject it.–that can be
One thing I would like to say about when you have these , RELAX AND REMEMBER TO BREATHE, IF you do not relax, they are going to have a harder time doing it, and the results wont be as effective! OKAY!!! then you will not have to worry about have…Stress sucks, and going thru any type of procedure does too, but if u can remember to do this-it will be easier,
>>Instead of so many Injections, you may ask if you can get some Cortizone cream or go thru a trial of cortisone -during HIGH PAIN and INFLAMMATORY peroids.
There are quite a few other things that can help as well–they make Lidocaine Patches…Lidocaine Creme,
My Pharmacist actually mixed Cream that had Ketoprofen(anti inflammatory, Baclafen(muscle relaxor) and Lidocaine.. and it IS THE BEST!!!! when my pain is out less then tolerable, and lots of inflammation

i agree with IMTIGGS for the mostpart. However, I think instead of relying on topical creams and such; if your pain started again in just one day, then you should seek other forms of physical therapy and pain management. Since you mentioned that you had a vehicle accident, I would assume that you have either a lumbar injury or a cervical injury. Either way, it is not fun. I dont know how old you are but sometimes your injury is enough to warrant surgery. Mine was! If you rely on topical creams and epidural steriods for an elongated time, you will never get better. If you need any further advice, contact me.
