How many people have had induction of labour? Do you think it meant you needed more pain relief?

pain relief

I’m 41 weeks pregnant today and am booked in for induction of labour on Sunday. Just wondering how much this increases the liklihood of having extra pain relief - epidural, etc.

I went thru 7 hrs of pitocin with no pain relief…u can do it sweetie just remember what ur getting out of it at the end…I did have dubane after the 7 hr mark though and it helped me sleep for an hr or so but then i had to have an epi b/c of an emergency c section….my little beanie was laying on her umbilical cord and wasnt getting enough oxygen no matter which position I was in…

I’m sending lots and lots of easy labor vibes to you!!!!

ive had a natural birth and induced birth,
im my experiance i coped better with natural birth and only wanted gas and air, when i was induced ( ive been induced 3 times) i wanted more pain relief as i found the pain much more intense. but thats just me hun ur birth could be completely different to mine.
good luck. hope all goes well.

I’ve never had an induced labour, was booked in for one but i luckily went two days before my induction. I wouldn’t think that drugs used to induce your labour would make it any more or less painful, for you to require additional pain relief. However birth plans go out the window when the time comes ~ Good Luck Hun!!!

i have been induced 2 out of 3 times and just had a shot of nubain with each birth however it is easy without the induction.

For my last birth because I did not want an induction I asked my dr to wait and I walked everytime I felt prelabor contractions. I walked more than 4 miles that evening before she was born and delivered her at 12:30. I did not stop walking except for potty break until I could no longer stand the pain and it was about 1-2 minutes apart.

my sister was induced 4 times!!! the drugs just didn’t seem to work for her so she was in labour for 5 days!!! ouch! and only used gas and air. it was a forceps delivery in the end cause she was so exhausted by the end of it!!!

oh dear! induction!! i had an induction with my eldest, and i went from nothing to contractions 1min apart. i screamed for an epidural. it was so intense and just so painful. my friend had an induction and she barely felt the pain and her daughter was born after 2 hours with just a whimper from her mumma.what i am trying to say is it is different for all, but the intensity so much stronger with an induction. i was so upset because i wanted a drug free birth, but the induction made that idea go out the window! i had a natural birth with the second. drug free. you will be fine, keep your options open

I have been induced twice and one natural birth and i found when your induced the contractions comes faster and quicker due to the piction your on, hence why you need more pain relief i could control my pain until i got to the stage of 7-10 and i went nuts i was shivering wreck emotional wreck it didnt last long then i was pushing. Its different for everyone good luck

hi i was induced with my little girl who was 5 weeks early
i would say my contractions started asap when they broke my waters and i thought i couldnt cope after the 1st 1!

i only had gas n air and felt no need for any pain relief as i coped fine and was very happy on the gas! lol

but i was only in delivery room for 2hrs and 5 mins with my 1st child
so i guess it makes the delivery quicker i dont know

im due my 2nd child in 3 weeks and no signs of this 1 coming yet im dreadin it lol

    good luck
